Dallas Mavericks have signed free agent Tu Holloway. The team also announced that they have decided to waive Jarrid Famous.
Center Jarrid Famous averaged 2.0 points and 1.8 rebounds in five preseason games with the Mavericks. He featured for the Washington Wizards in the Las Vegas summer league in 2015 before signing for Dallas. The 6-foot-11 player went undrafted out of Florida in 2011. Famous was waived to make room for Holloway.
Holloway competed for a Mavs roster spot after going undrafted in 2012. The 6-footer played in his collegiate career for Xavier University. And in his four years in college, the point guard played in 134 games and held career averages of 13.7 points, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals per contest.
As a junior, Holloway has earned honors to show. He won the Third Team All-America award given by the Associated Press after posting an average of 19.7 points and 5.4 assists a game. Holloway was the Atlantic 10 player of the year, too.
Holloway last played in Venezuela for Guaros de Lara.
The Mavs currently have 20 men in their training camp roster. They need to reduce it further to reach the stipulated 15-men squad according to league rules.
