Cleveland Cavaliers are making calls to gauge the trade market of Timofey Mozgov, according to reports. Mozgov is set to become a free agent this summer.
Center Timofey Mozgov is out of form this season. He has averaged 6.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game on a diminished role. Earlier reports suggested that the Cavs are reluctant to move him. The franchise surrendered two first-round picks last year for Mozgov. But now, they have started making calls to gauge the trade market.
In game 4 of the last NBA finals, he scored 28 points and 10 rebounds. But his current form has fallen. The center scored only 2 points featuring 18 minutes during the Cavs’ recent win over the Houston Rockets. Against the San Antonio Spurs the previous night, he failed to score any point in 15 minutes.
This is the reason the Cavs have started to gauge the trade market for him. And unless Mozgov’s form improves by the end of this season, it’s unlikely to see the center re-signing for the Cavs.
This also puts the Cavs’ front office in a tricky situation. The final call hasn’t been made. So, Cleveland is trying to assess what deals are available in the market for the center.
