NBA Star Lamar Odom Used Cocaine, Was Found Unresponsive In Brothel
Former NBA and reality television star, Lamar Odom, was found unresponsive in a Nevada brothel after consuming cocaine on Saturday, employees of the brothel told the 911 dispatchers. Odom suffered brain damage and at least one stroke, and has currently been placed on ventilator.
The 911 callers said that Odom, who was discovered unresponsive lying in bed on his side on Tuesday, had a pinkish fluid coming out from his mouth and nose. The two-time NBA champion was transported to a hospital in Las Vegas. A blood sample collected by the investigators will be submitted for testing to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police laboratory. “At this point, the case is ongoing,” Nye County Sheriff, Sharon Wehrly, said.
“When they took him to the Pahrump hospital, the people there told us, ‘He doesn’t look good. He doesn’t look like he’ll make it, and if he does, he won’t be the same,'” brothel owner, Dennis Hof, said. According to NBC News, the audio of the 911 call reveals that the caller, a woman, said, “There’s blood coming out of his nose” and “white stuff coming out of his mouth.” She further emphasized that “he’s not breathing” and said no when asked whether the man was conscious. According to the caller, Odom had consumed a sexual performance supplement, described as “herbal Viagra” by Hof.
However, in the second 911 call made by Richard Hunter, the hotel’s media director, the caller says that Odom is “breathing regularly — he’s snoring a little bit,” that he is “over on his side” and is making sounds like “a couple of whimpers.” Hunter further says that Odom has “got a little bit of fluid coming from his nose and his mouth.”
Odom married Khloé Kardashian in 2009, a wedding that featured on “Keeping up with the Kardashians.” While Kardashian filed for divorce in 2013, it has not been finalized, as reported by CNN. “Lamar has suffered so much loss in his life,” Kardashian said. “I’m really on high alert for Lamar because anything will set him to spiral, and that’s kind of the last thing I want for him.”
“I will never, ever not love Lamar,” she said. “I was so obsessed with him in a healthy way. He was my husband, and I still wish he was.” She said that she was concerned for Odom, especially after his best friend passed away this year. Although she faced objection by her family, she regularly kept in touch with him during episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
She was at Odom’s hospital bedside, according to the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who had tweeted that he had visited with them and “had prayer.” Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, posted a picture of Odom on Instagram which was captioned, “Please pray for Lamar #ourfighter.”
After playing one season for Miami, Odom was traded to the Lakers where he was a vital part of the championship teams in 2009 and 2010. In the following year, he played for the Dallas Mavericks and then returned to the Clippers for one season. While the New York Knicks signed him to a two-year contract during the 2014 offseason, they released him three months later.
