Greg Monroe and the Milwaukee Bucks are heading for an embittered divorce. After just one season, the Bucks are reportedly eager to move on from the 6-foot-11 center, recent NBA rumors suggested.

In 79 appearances for the Bucks, Monroe posted 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 29 minutes of play. Those are decent numbers for an NBA big, but Monroe’s issues go beyond what is written on the stat sheet.

Monroe is a half-court player who wants to be fed down the low block. He noticeably struggled to find his place in Jason Kidd’s up-tempo offense last season.

ESPN’s Marc Stein reported earlier this week that Monroe, together with Sacramento Kings small forward Rudy Gay, are the top two NBA players openly available through trade.

The Boston Celtics were rumored to be interested in Monroe, but trade negotiations with the Bucks have hit a road block as of late. Another ball club that might trade for Monroe is the New York Knicks.

According to Amico Hoops, the Knicks haven’t quite moved on from failing to land Monroe last summer. Phil Jackson and company are still interested in the back-to-the-basket big man. However, they would have to bring in a third trade partner to acquire Monroe.

As of the moment, the Knicks don’t have enough trade assets to inherit Monroe’s three-year, $50 million contract. One way the Knicks can get Monroe is if they include center Joakim Noah in the possible deal.

On the down side, Knicks fans who would like to see a front court of Monroe and Kristaps Porzingis will have to wait until later this fall. Free agents who signed with new teams aren’t eligible to be traded until at least December, as per Hoops Rumors.

Reacting on recent NBA rumors, Fansided is skeptical about the notion of the Knicks trading Noah for Monroe. The former Chicago Bulls center recently signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Knicks. He is eager to show he can still ball, following an injury-laden campaign last season.
