The Minnesota Timberwolves have handed the Philadelphia 76ers their 15th consecutive defeat on Monday night. The Sixers still remain winless. Timberwolves overcame a 6-point deficit in the final 6 minutes to win 100-95.
For Minnesota, this was the first win at Target Center after a 0-6 start at home. Second-year star Andrew Wiggins lifted the Wolves in the final minutes like Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki or Dwyane Wade, men who starred in the latter stages to beat Philadelphia in recent days. The Sixers led 52-46 at half time.
Veteran Kevin Martin shot a three-pointer at the crunch moment to secure Wolves’ victory. Martin was included in the starting lineup for the first time this season on Monday. Wiggins notched up 17 points in the final quarter and finished with 32, one less than his career-best performance.
Kevin Garnett scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. Garnett posted 6 points as the Wolves started the third quarter on a 10-0 run to bounce back in the game.
Rookie Jahlil Okafor led the Sixers with 25 points and 12 rebounds, 19 of which came in the first half. This was a clash between No 1 draft pick Karl-Anthony Towns and No 3 pick Okafor. Okafor outsmarted his Wolves counterpart throughout the game.
