Dirk Nowitzki is one of the best in the business, feels LeBron James. And why not? The 17-year veteran of NBA led Dallas Mavericks to a sensational win on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
What is the mystery behind Nowitzki’s phenomenal success?
“Classic Dirk,” Dallas teammate Deron Williams said. “Hitting shots from everywhere, making big shots, big plays. That’s why he’s one of the greatest.”
Nowitzki indeed put up a classic show against the Wolves, posting 29 points. The Mavs won a low-scoring thriller 93-87. And LeBron James is ecstatic about the 37-year-old veteran.
“He’s just a true professional,” revealed James. “A guy who continued to get better every year, and also, when he slowed down just a bit, he expanded on other parts of his game, still make him efficient and effective out on the floor. He’s great.”
Dallas will meet James’ Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. Nowitzki has posted averages of 17.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and is shooting 45.8 percent in his 18th pro season.
“He’s amazing, one of my favorite players ever to play the game,” James added before the Cavaliers’ practice, before tonight’s game against Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks. “Just his ability, what he’s able to do, his size, his ability to shoot the ball, his ability to sacrifice shots for other guys, being a part of this team and a part of this franchise over the years, the loyalty speaks volumes.”
