The NBA on Tuesday ruled that Chris Paul should have been awarded one free throw on the lay-up with 12 seconds left, which puts Los Angeles Clippers up by one point. This could surprise as well as frustrate Doc Rivers and the Clippers camp.

The League goes on to say that Kevin Durant should have never received the opportunity to score the winning shot for Oklahoma City Thunder at Staples Center. Durant, who defended Thunder’s iso-ball play after the win over Clippers on Monday, made a turnout to score the winner over Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.

There is good news for the Thunder, too. Durant’s game-saving block against Paul was given a clean chit by the league. Above all, they managed to cling to the win, which is the greatest prize. Thunder won 100-99.

These plays under crunch time do not receive the referee’s whistles. The Clippers can only take heart from the fact that the league recognized that a couple of key calls should have gone their way. But Doc Rivers isn’t the guy who takes solace from moral victories.
