Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith donned Cleveland Cavaliers shirts against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. Carmelo Anthony, meanwhile, has feels like a lonely soul deserted by his family. Melo pointed out that he felt LeBron James took away his family members.
The Knicks traded Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith in January to Cavs.
“I would love to play against my brothers,” revealed Knicks’ star Carmelo Anthony. “It seems like LeBron took all my family from me.”
Anthony has a close bonding with both Shumpart and J.R. Smith. James is one of his close buddies, too. He watched Shumpart and Smith in action with LeBron during last season’s finals with a pride of an older brother.
“It was more kind of like seeing your family out there than anything,” Melo explained. “I didn’t watch it kind of from a competitive standpoint. I watched two guys — J.R., I’ve known him, I’ve been with him for almost 10 years; Shump is a guy who came in and was kind of a little brother to me; and of course LeBron, who I’ve been with, kind of connected to since high school. So to see all three of those guys competing at that level, it was more watching my family out there.”
