Kevin Durant shared the Western Conference Player of the Month award with his Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook. The Eastern Conference award went to John Wall of the Washington Wizards.
Wizards point guard John Wall averaged 22.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 11.7 assists, 2.2 steals and 0.6 blocks per game in December to clinch the Eastern Conference award. Wall scored 20 or more points 11 times. His PER in the last month was 24.4.Westbrook had the highest PER, 30.9. Kevin Durant finished with 26.6.
Westbrook posted averages of 23.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 2.7 steals per game in December to share the honors with Kevin Durant.
Durant continued to dominate proceedings, finishing with averages of 24.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 0.9 steals per game. Durant though missed Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. It is only the third time the teammates have shared the accolade in NBA history.
Durant and Westbrook, ranked sixth and seventh in scoring this edition of the league, have led the Thunder to an impressive 12-3 record in December.
