The Washington Wizards are engaged in advanced talks with J.J. Hickson, who was released earlier by the Denver Nuggets after the deadline.

League sources revealed to The Vertical that free agent Hickson is closing on a deal with the Wizards. The deal will see Hickson featuring for the Wizards through the remainder of the season. The 6-9 forward will be signing for the Wizards within the next two days. The Wizards are yet to finalize the veteran’s pro-minimum deal. Hickson appeared in 20 games for the Denver Nuggets this season before he was traded off on Friday, according to Yahoo.

The Nuggets also waived Steve Novak, who signed with the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.

The 27-year-old Hickson was the 19th overall pick of Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008. He was traded to the Sacramento Kings in 2011 and joined Portland Trail Blazers in 2012, where he had his best season so far.
