Arron Afflalo of the New York Knicks is recovering from an ailing left hamstring. Afflalo clarified that he is on the right track to return on court as soon as possible.Advertisement
“I want to say I guess I just have to give it another two weeks or so but it’s hard to judge,” Afflalo said. “I’m just going to go based on how I feel and with what the medical staff tells me.”
Afflalo was injured during the Knicks’ game in the second quarter of the final preseason game in Boston. Derek Fisher sparked controversy by using him in the second half, despite a tight left hamstring. MRI revealed a mild strain, as announced by Knicks management.
“I feel better. Just a little disappointed in not being able to progress but it’s OK. Just trying to go day-to-day with it,” said Afflalo. “Sometimes, hamstrings can be tricky. If there’s a strain, it takes the right amount of time to heal. I felt great, but obviously, I’ve got to let it get to 100 percent.”
But the recovery could take longer, which is frustrating for both Afflalo and the Knicks. The Knicks will open this season against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
Sasha Vujacic, Jerian Grant and Langston Galloway, are the probable options in Fisher’s hand to replace Afflalo.
