The Chicago Bulls may now rely on Nikola Mirotic as a starter. Mirotic’s combination with Pau Gasol worked like magic during last season in Spain.
Mirotic started as a power forward in the Bulls’ preseason match against the Indiana Pacers. His performance insisted that Mirotic could continue in that role in the starting line-up as the regular season kicks off in the last week of October.
Bulls’ coach Fred Hoiberg utilized Mirotic ahead of Joakim Noah in the lineup. The tactical ploy worked as the power forward displayed his merit in the front court.
Joakim Noah was a mainstay at center for Chicago under the former head man Tom Thibodeau. But after a disappointing start last season, Noah is going to lose his position.
Mirotic, on the contrary, continued his strong preseason by scoring 15 points in the last season. He also netted four three-pointers. In his 27 minutes presence on court, his combination with Gasol provided the Bulls more spacing.
It is evident that headcoach Hoiberg has big plans ahead with the second-year NBA man, though he hasn’t formally revealed that Mirotic would be his focal point in the starting line-up.
