Ty Lawson is at it again, plagued by issues that may cost him a slot with the Sacramento Kings. Lawson was taken in by the Kings to somehow offset the impending suspension of Darren Collison due to domestic violence issues.
Unfortunately, Lawson is back to his old ways. He missed Friday’s flight to Las Vegas and eventually missed the team’s preseason victory over the Washington Wizards, the Sacramento Bee reported. He was also late for Thursday’s morning shoot-around, signs that the 28-year-old guard may be out of focus as far as his basketball career is concerned.
Bungled opportunity for Ty Lawson.
At the rate that Lawson has been disappointing the Kings management, it is likely that coach Dave Joerger will turn to the other guards trying to earn a spot for the coming NBA season. That includes Jordan Farmar, Isaiah Cousins or even Garrett Temple to man the point guard position.
Lawson is not officially out of the Kings roster for now. He will be meeting with team officials to shed more light on his erratic attendance which in general is not looking so good, ESPN reported. If the team finds Lawson’s explanation as not acceptable, it is likely that he will be eventually cut.
This is despite Lawson making an impression on Joerger with his speed and leadership. But with the lack of focus, all that has been immediately negated.
Ty Lawson needs to get his act together.
If he does get cut, Lawson only has himself to blame. Things just have panned up for the once-explosive guard who signed up initially last season with the Houston Rockets. Failing to get anything going, he was subsequently released and picked up by the Indiana Pacers.
The Kings would have been the perfect return for his fading NBA career but his recent rows may have placed him in a very serious predicament.
