NATO Provoking Russia? Moscow Is Ready For World War 3
Previously, the United States and NATO maintained that their activities in Eastern Europe and near Russia’s borders were defensive but some military experts beg to disagree saying that preparations seem like they are really going for war. Now, Russia has claimed that NATO has more than doubled its activities right at its doorsteps which could only affect relations further.Advertisement
NATO Provoking Russia?
“Now NATO and the US have deployed about 1,200 pieces of military equipment, including 30 combat jets, as well as more than 1,000 soldiers on the territories of the Eastern European countries on a rotational basis. The US navy ships as well as military vessels of other NATO members regularly enter the Baltic and Black Seas,” RT quoted Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu during the meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry Board that also saw the participation of Russia’s top military command.
The official also discussed that NATO has been pursuing with its efforts to modernize and upgrade a range of military infrastructure in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and the Baltic States. The alliance wants to make sure that the military facilities were up to speed to its standards. Russian military has been alarmed with deployment of the US anti-missile defense systems (ABM) in Eastern Europe. The minister further expressed concerns that once the Warsaw summit happens, then NATO would be allowed to increase its presence and activities considerably near Russia.
“Such moves of our western colleagues lead to erosion of the strategic stability in Europe and force us to take counter measures, primarily in the western theater of operations,” added Shoigu. He did say that Russia is taking steps to become prepared.
“This year, more than 2,000 pieces of new and modernized military equipment will enter operational service [within the units of] the western military district,” Shoigu announced.
NATO and Russia to Meet and talk
“Russia gave its approval but would like the meeting to take place after the Warsaw summit to be able to examine the decisions that are taken there,” announced French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault. France and other parties have requested another meeting between Russia and NATO after the initial talks did not ease up the tensions.
