MVP Curry Guides Warriors To Win Over Grizzlies In Game 1
Most Valuable Player of NBA 2014-15 Stephen Curry guided the Golden State Warriors to victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinal series on Sunday. The Warriors cruised home 101-86 to go a match up in the seven-match series.
Curry scored 22 points and seven assists, Klay Thompson added 18 points to the tally to tear apart the undermanned Memphis at the Oracle Arena. Forward Draymond Green scored 16. The top-seeded side have now registered 21 straight wins. The Warriors led by 9 points at half-time and extended their lead to 20 within the 3rd quarter, a proof of their sheer dominance throughout the Game. With defending champions San Antonio Spurs knocked out by the Los Angeles Clippers, the Warriors are now the hot favorites of the West in this edition of the tournament.
“There are less question marks, obviously, when you look around the brackets and it’s down to four teams in the West,” Stephen Curry said. “That’s the challenge, is to not get ahead of ourselves. There’s a great team in the Memphis Grizzlies that we have to take care of right now. Just trying to stay in the moment, that’s the biggest thing for us.”
The Grizzlies missed their point-guard Mike Conley due to a surgery. It’s still unclear when Conley will play his next game for Memphis. Marc Gasol scored 21 points and nine rebounds, while Zach Randolph returned with 20 and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies.
