What's This?

Just days before the scheduled premiere of Mr. Robot Season 2, the show’s creators “leaked” its premiere on various social media platforms. The full episode appeared online after a masked figure interrupted a live Facebook Q&A with the creators.

The leaked premiere was only available for a short period after which it was deleted. The stunt, getting its inspiration from the show’s plot, released the first hour of the 2-hour episode.

According to the figure, those watching the live stream deserve something new, something unexpected, something you’ve never seen before. He then proceeded to play the episode for everyone who was watching the live feed.

Variety revealed that aside from Facebook, the leak hit Twitter. The official Mr. Robot account then tweeted the schedules in which the leak will hit other social media platforms.

Snapchat soon followed before finally hitting Youtube and the USA network’s own website. They were, however, short-lived as the snaps, videos, and tweets were soon deleted after they were uploaded.

According to The Verge, while the leak only gave fans a small window of opportunity to watch, there was more to come. With the premiere just days away, be sure to keep an eye on the show’s official social media accounts.

The American drama-thriller centers on Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer and hacker. He suffers from social anxiety disorder and clinical depression.

Alderson is later recruited by the titular character who is an insurrectionary anarchist. He joins a group of hacktivists and attacks a large corporation, E Corp, in order to cancel debts.

The show has gained popularity due to the widespread use of the internet and the rise of real-life hacktivists such as Anonymous. The show’s focus on cybersecurity also hits home with the audience as most real-world transactions now happen over the internet

The 12 episode long Mr. Robot Season 2 premieres on July 13, 2016 on the USA Network.
