Yes, Hollywood is actually making a Monster Hunter movie. Ryozo Tsujimoto, Capcom producer, announced at the Tokyo Game Show that a live-action Monster Hunter is about to grace the big screen.

“While it isn’t related to Stories, there is a Hollywood movie adaptation of the main series in progress,” Tsujimoto said, as translated by Gematsu. The news was reported by Games Talk.

Not enough details have been revealed so far. Fans of the action RPG can only hope that the project won’t get canceled halfway through.

The latest installment in the series, Monster Hunter Stories, serves as a spin-off. It is scheduled to be released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on October 8 this year. In 2015, Monster Hunter Generations was released for the same handheld. It received astounding reviews from critics.

Monster Hunter is a fantasy-themed series in which players take on the role of a hunter, whose aim is to catch and slay a multitude of creatures while exploring the vast environment.

Meanwhile, Capcom’s most famous title Resident Evil is set to release two movies. One is Resident Evil: Vendetta, a full-length CGI film slated for a 2017 release. The other is Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which sees director Paul W. S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich teaming up one last time to rid the world of zombies once and for all. It is scheduled to release in 2016 in Japan and 2017 in North America.
