Mobile World Congress 2015 Brief: When, Who, What’s New

When: The Mobile World Capital Barcelona at Fira Gran Via will host the Mobile World Congress 2015 through March 2-5.

Who: Industry leaders from AT$T, China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, Dialog Axiata, KT, Orange, Telefonica and Vodafone are only one among the dozen CEOs and executives that make up the list of the keynote speakers for this year’s congress.

The 2015 Congress is set to be the most exciting yet according to GSMA Chief Marketing Officer Michael O’ Hara. “As always, Mobile World Congress will highlight the latest innovations in mobile, in the conference, across the exhibition, through our partner programmes and at the many events and meeting taking place over the four days,” O’Hara said in his announcement.

What’s New: Garmin wearable technology will be given at 40 per cent off to all registered attendees to the 2015 Mobile World Congress. To take advantage of the discounted Garmin Activity Trackers, the vivofit or vivosmart, registered attendees should compete for prizes by covering more distance up the Garmin leaderboard.

Also for the first time, visitors at the congress will have the chance to virtually experience the future of mobile by travelling through the networks from the inside and seeing at face value the world of connected devices and services. This is made possible by the GSMA Innovation City to be demonstrated by experts from AT&T, Jasper, KT Corporation, Oral-B, Sierra Wireless and Vodafone. The visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world where mobile-connected products transform people’s personal and working lives.

Another new programme at the congress is the Connected Women Summit that explores how the mobile industry can open opportunities to women by accelerating the female digital economy. Two reports will be presented during this part of the congress – the Women’s Mobile Access and Usage in Emerging Markets and a State of the Industry Report that examined the state of gender diversity across the mobile industry.

Finally all registrants can attend the Mobile Congress Party given that they get a hold of free tickets that are unfortunately extremely limited.
