MLS Special: Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba Mobbed At Airport Upon Arrival
Legendary Chelsea star Didier Drogba’s arrival at Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport on Wednesday afternoon sparked wild scenes from the fans. Fans started gearing up at the airport to receive their darling star two hours before Drogba landed.
As the Ivory Coast international was seen descending through the stairs, hundreds of supporters rushed through the safety barriers to catch a glimpse of the man of the moment.
Roars “Drogba” among the crowd were deafening as Drogba managed to capture the scene on Instagram. He was escorted by the securities and finally got in a car stationed outside the airport for him.
“I used to support Didier Drogba since he played for Chelsea and also because he is one of the biggest players of Afica — of Ivory Coast. That is my country too. I am so proud,” said Jean-Claude Njuessan at Trudeau Airport wearing the colors of the Ivory Coast flag.
After Ignacio Piatti joined the club roster this season, Drogba is the Impact’s fourth designated player in its history. The Ivorian forward signed with the Montreal Impact on Monday to feature in the MLS for the first time.
