A criminal investigation in the case of the disappearance of Charlene Voight has been launched by the police.
Voight was reported missing by her family on July 8 this year. This was unusual for Voight, as her family said she is often in contact with them every day.
“We’re all just heartbroken, that’s the best way to describe this situation,” Marilyn Voight, Charlene’s sister, said. “We just want my sister back and we want her safe.”
Upon completing her graduation from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Voight had moved to Littleton, Colorado. One of the reasons for this move was so she could be together with her off and on boyfriend, Jeff Beier.
Beier, who according to his LinkedIn profile is a consultant for Growth Strategy, Inc., and the Executive Vice President at Specialty Commercial Finance, was taken into custody for suspected sexual assault and is currently being held on a $75,000 bond at the Arapahoe County jail, as reported by Engelwood Herald.
The sexual assault charge against Beier does not involve Voight. He is not being considered a suspect or person of interest in Voight’s disappearance.
As reported by Heavy, the apartment the couple shared has been searched by the Crime Scene Investigators.
Amid the hardships, Voight’s family says they are trying to remain optimistic.
“We think it’s best to not give up hope and to stay positive and patient,” Marilyn said. “Someone once told me patience is keeping a positive outlook on the situation. So that’s what we’re going to do.”
