At the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, young women from 90 countries will be vying with each other for the top honor. Only 40 contestants from various countries have been confirmed to participate in the annual extravaganza.
The Miss Universe pageant that started way back in 1954 as a marketing show has now evolved into a contest celebrating beauty as well as intelligence and poise.
For the first time, after its broadcaster pulled out, the Miss Universe Organization came up with an exclusive Miss U app. The app will give fans a peek into the pictures, videos, news related to Miss Universe 2016 before and after schedule. Meanwhile, for the Miss Universe 2016, 40 delegates have been confirmed, according to Pageant News.com.
The contestants include Lindita Idrizi from Albania, Luisa Baptista from Angola, Dajana Dzinic from Austria, Lenty Frans from Belgium, and a host of others. For the 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant, Pia Wurtzbach from the Philippines who is Miss Universe 2015 will crown her successor.
Among the current favorites this year for the international beauty pageant is Miss Philippines Maxine Medina, Miss Colombia Andrea Trovar, Miss Mexico Kristal Silva, Miss Venezuela Mariam Habach, and several others. Check the list of delegates and their profiles here.
Miss Philippines Maxine Medina is one of the hot favorite with people from the country wanting her to be the successor of Pia. The Pinoy beauty studied Interior Design from De La Salle-College of St Benilde and Philippine School of Interior Design, and designs condominiums. The 25-year-old is into modeling and is dating actor and model Marx Topacio for the last five years, Rappler reports.
The 20-year old Kiran Jassal is from another Asian country — Malaysia. Jassal is currently studying dentistry and wants to pursue it even after Miss Universe 2016, Miss Universe reports.
