Model Chrissy Teigen seemed to have noticed the lack of diversity of the Miss Teen USA 2016 finalists and expressed it through a tweet.
Miss Teen USA 2016 finalists are noticeably all blond and blue-eyed, which the supermodel and other fans pointed out.
John Legend’s 30-year-old wife blasted Miss Teen USA 2016 management in a sarcastic tweet saying, “Wow how can we choose from such a diverse bunch.”
Miss Texas Karlie Hay emerged as this year’s Miss Teen USA which Miss North Carolina Emily Wakeman clinched the runner-up title.
Second runner-up is Miss South Carolina Marley Stokes, Miss Alabama Erin Snow and Miss Nevada Carissa Morrow.
“It’s fiiiiiine. Not their fault. I’m sure they are delightful women,” she then tweeted. “Just funny. I’m not gonna write a think-piece on a damn pageant.”
Meanwhile, Miss Teen USA 2016 grand winner Karlie Hay drew ire after her tweet from 2013 emerged which contained racial slurs, Mirror UK said in a report.
The winner owned up to her past mistakes and said that she has had personal issues several years ago.
“I admit that I have used language publicly in the past which I am not proud of and that there is no excuse for,” she said in a statement she posted on Instagram hours after winning. “Through hard work, education and thanks in large part to the sisterhood that I have come to know through pageants, I am proud to say that I am today a better person.”
The teen beauty queen also thanked the management of The Miss Universe Organization for recognizing not only her potential but of other women as well.
Meanwhile, the Miss Universe Organization blasted Karlie Hay’s racial tweet and called it as “unacceptable” but believes she made a mistake and regrets it now, as what she stated.
