Was Mischa Barton really insensitive to Alton Sterling shooting? Did she openly mock those affected by the incident, albeit “unintentionally?”
While “Formation” singer Beyonce got the admiration of several fans as she stood up to fight against the reported police brutality, it appeared that the 30-year-old actress did not get the same treatment.
At the heel of protests against the killing of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, the snap which she shared on Instagram was attacked by some of her followers as they emphasized “how tasteless it was,” Perez Hilton reported.
In the now-deleted post, Mischa Barton was seen in her black bikini while enjoying a yacht ride, sipping alcohol. For those who saw the picture, they could not fathom why she will use that image to talk about a serious matter as police brutality, particularly against minorities!
The entertainment blogger noted that although the message accompanying the post was “much more poignant,” the “Lawn Dogs” star seemed to have overlooked the fact that her photo and her words “didn’t match.”
“I’m truly heart broken to watch videos like the #altonsterling execution,” Mischa Barton wrote. “This may have been going on forever in the United States but thank god the pigs get caught on camera now.”
She even continued to point out that what happened was both unthinkable and an embarrassment to America, as she called for unity and the implementation of gun control.
In the end, she used the hashtags #stop #reflect and #act appropriately to make her supposed message get into the consciousness of her followers, something which was no longer highlighted because of the alleged mismatched image.
According to ET Online, her followers have their own reasons for slamming the former Nickelodeon star.
One Instagram user hinted that what Mischa Barton did was an example of a metaphor since she talked about having the same sentiment yet it seemed “hard to take you seriously while you post a picture of you sipping alcohol on a yacht.”
Another follower stated that what Mischa Barton showed was “disgusting.”
