The Minnesota Timberwolves could do well to add more firepower to their cause and Wilson Chandler of the Denver Nuggets could be an interesting prospect. Would they consider trading Ricky Rubio and Nikola Pekovic to make it happen?
Rubio and Pekovic are seemingly odd men out of the Minnesota Timberwolves roster with the entry of young blood to the fold. There are high expectations on Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine has proven to be a gem at the guard position.
Looking back to last season, everyone is aware how Andrew Wiggins ended up at the shooting guard position, something that renders mismatches. Uncanny as it may, Wiggins was able to fit into the new role.
With all that laid out, it seems obvious that the Minnesota Timberwolves may as well dispose of Rubio and Pekovic and take in Chandler for more offensive sock.
Rubio, Pekovic perfect for Denver
Rubio is proven commodity except that he lacks outside shooting in his arsenal. Then again, the Nuggets could free up some load on sophomore Emmanuel Mudiay who can do more damage offensively without ball distribution.
Pekovic on the other hand could be big help at the center spot, alternating with Jusuf Nurkic. With Karl-Anthony Towns dominating the slot position for the Minnesota Timberwolves, a move could help the Bosnian improve and show off his stuff.
From the possible trade deal, the Denver Nuggets could benefit immensely with two international stars unlikely to flourish with the current roster of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The deal is of course unofficial but could happen if both teams will it.
The Minnesota Timberwolves plan to keep Rubio until the start of the season. But the landscape changes come the regular season, something that will carry on until the February trade deadline. Could the T-Wolves and Nuggets talk somewhere along the 2016-17 NBA regular season?
