Is Mike Rowe dead? The well-known host known for Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs” is trending on twitter, thanks to a death hoax story reported on Wednesday.
The 54-year-old television anchor was reported to have committed suicide by shooting himself? Not really.
Mike Rowe reacted on the death hoax news on Facebook and twitter. He even said headlines were “a hell of a thing” and shared the report by The Bit Bag that claimed him to be dead.
“I always hoped that sooner or later, I’d come home after a long day, open a beer, glance at the headlines, and have the opportunity to come to quote Mark Twain. The reports of my death has been grossly exaggerated.”
The San Francisco-based TV personality shared an incident with his fans on Facebook. He said that a strange thing happened with him some time back.
Mike Rowe said that he was sleeping in his bedroom, stark naked he heard a strange sound – like that of a bumblebee. Still sleepy, he got up and looked out of his window and saw a drone peering from outside with its camera directed at him, Huffington Post reports.
The “Somebody’s Gotta Do It” presenter grabbed his 12-gauge shotgun from under his bed and ran outside, still in his “favorite pair of non-existent pyjamas.” That’s how the rumors of Rowe shooting himself surfaced.
He was almost going to shoot the drone, when sense dawned on him, and he thought that there would be a possible scandal. Mike Rowe thought to himself that the footage taken from the drone could be leaked online, and makes them viral.
“I pumped a shell into the chamber, enjoying the ‘crunch-crunch’ sound that makes shotguns worth owning. I had a clear shot — nothing but blue sky above — and more than enough umbrage to justify the destruction I was about to unleash,” said Mike Rowe wrote on his Facebook post.
He wrote the very next day he would make headlines in local publications: “Dirty Jobs Guy Totally Loses It – Gets Naked and Shoots Drone From San Francisco Skies.”
Mike Rowe forewarned his fans that if they come across any scandal about the presenter in the near future, they would be aware of it. Fans, however had the version from the horse’s mouth.
