Microsoft Launches Office 2016 For Mac
Microsoft has finally launched the latest version of Office 2016 for Mac users. Initially, the software is available only for Office 365 subscribers – that is, anyone who has a subscription of Office 365 Home, Personal, Business, Business Premium, E3 or ProPlus.
This latest Microsoft release comes after they introduced their Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android phones just two weeks ago. Office 2016 will be available in 139 countries and 16 languages.
Office for Mac is a cloud-connected interface. This makes you get quick access to files or documents you have recently used and you can pick up where you left. This version is coupled with a built-in tool for document-sharing with your teammates. During sharing, there is no way of losing content or original format.
Microsoft is offering pricing plans for their Office 365 Mac subscribers depending on their requirements. Pricing for Office 365 Personal is $6.99 per month and $9.99 per month for Home. For students, the developer has a plan for providing them for free or for a major discount.
Anyone interested can purchase Office 365 at Office.com/Mac whereas current subscribers can install the software through the office.com/myaccount page. Last March, Microsoft released a Preview version of Office 2016 for Mac users and declared that customer participation “exceeded our expectations, making it our largest Office for Mac beta ever.”
Kirk Koenigsbauer, Corporate Vice President for Office Client Applications and Services team, wrote in a blog post that “Mac preview participants provided us with over 100,000 pieces of feedback.”
Based on feedback, during its four-month test period, Microsoft has made seven major updates with prime concentration on improved performance and stability. These updates include new features like Proposed New Time in Outlook, Mail Merge in Word and External Data Connections support in Excel.
Microsoft shared that Office for Mac will continue to be the subject of ongoing improvements over time. Koenigsbauer also added, “We plan to release updates and new features for Office 365 customers at least once per quarter.”
