A body believed to be of Michael Cavallari, brother of reality TV star Kristin Cavallari and brother-in-law of Jay Cutler, was discovered dead almost two weeks after his car was found abandoned near an isolated part of southern Utah.
Michael’s body has been sent to the Utah medical examiner for identification and determination of cause of death. As reported by ESPN, Michael’s body was found about three miles northwest of where his car was discovered on the morning of November 27 this year.
In a statement to People, Kristine said, “We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time. We have just been informed by the authorities my brother’s body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving.”
While no bullet holes, stab wounds or indications of foul play have been discovered on the body, the medical examiner will determine what caused his death.
Michael’s 2014 Honda Civic was found, its engine running and airbag deployed, in an abandoned area south of Salt Lake City. He was subsequently reported missing. Three days earlier, on November 24, he had allegedly made criminal threats for which he was arrested out of Dana Point City Hall. The arrest came after he was reported to the authorities by an unnamed woman, who says she had an argument with Michael. He was bailed out of jail the next day, November 25.
A search for Michael on foot and by helicopter was carried out after his vehicle was discovered, according to Newsweek. His remains were discovered Thursday, and sent to the medical examiner.
Kristin posted a picture on Instagram of her and her brother. “My heart is in a million pieces,” she captioned the picture. “Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I’m at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP.”
