Beauty and glamour dominated the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala 2016 or  Met Gala as it was widely known, on Monday May 2, with most of the sought-after celebrities participating. Naturally, what was most anticipated in the event was the red carpet fashion.

“Manus x Machina” is the theme for Met Gala 2016.  Stars gave their best efforts in attending the event in their most fashionable ensembles yet.

According to US Weekly, Beyonce was one of the standouts. Beyonce wore Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci — a dress with floral beading and puffed sleeves. She did not stand out because of her outfit alone. Everyone was anticipating her because of the controversies she was recently involved in after releasing her her “Lemonade” album, which implied Jay-Z cheated on her for years and with different women.

Taylor Swift, who has been one of this generation’s fashion icon, wore a Louis Vuitton cutout snakeskin mini dress and black ballerina heels. She completed the look with a black lipstick and nail colors. Blake Lively looked like a goddess in her strapless, blush Burberry gown with a rose- embroidered Watteau train. She wore a pastel Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Demi Lovato opted to be a bit more adventurous as she wore a Moschino by Jeremy Scott dress custom with sequined panels and gold embroidery.

Lupita Nyong’O enhanced her beauty with a sequined jade dress by Calvin Klein Collection and a hair that was fashioned like Audrey Hepburn’s.

Ff course, sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner would not be left out in the scene of fashion. Both opted for a daring sexy look. Kendall wore an Atelier Versace dress with white and blue stripes while Kylie wore a see-through Balmain dress with beaded details. Both paired their looks with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Big sister Kim Kardashian made sure she looked as fashionable as her younger sisters. Kim Kardashian wore a robot-inspired Balmain dress which looked more like her sister Kylie’s. She was escorted by her husband, Kanye West who matched her dress with an embellished jacket. He wore a white tee inside and a ripped jeans and brown boots.

Bella Hadid opted for an all- black fashion as she wore a strapless Givenchy ball gown with a thigh-high slit and an over-the-knee peep-toe boots. Zendaya, on the otherhand, dazzked with an asymmetrical, copper-beaded Michael Kors Collection design.

According to Vogue, the biggest trend at the Met Gala 2016 was “a tendency toward the futuristic in all its forms.” Some took the theme from head-to-toe with an all-silver accent or just on the sides of their dresses. Some of the stars also opted for obliques as they only revealed the sides of their body.

There were those who wore unconventional fashion pieces. Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik opted for a warrior look, as did Kate Hudson and Julie Macklowe. Both Madonna and Lady Gaga opted for a “no- pants” look.

When it comes to the dashing men, the dress code was said to be tech white tie. Robert Pattinson and Carmelo Anthony both wore a white blazers while Whiz Khalifa went all white from the blazer to his pants.
