What's This?

“Marvel’s The Punisher” will soon have a television series. “The Punisher” TV series will continue the collaboration of Netflix with Marvel Television.

According to Marvel, the American actor who portrayed Shane Walsh in the “The Walking Dead” series, Jon Bernthal, will reprise his character as Frank Castle for this upcoming series. The British television writer and producer, Steve Lightfoot, will serve as the Punisher TV series’ Executive Producer and Showrunner.

Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, said in a statement, “Our gratitude to the fans who are demanding for more of Jon’s stunning and powerful performance as Frank Castle from ‘Marvel’s Daredevil.’” Loeb also said, “Now, teaming up with Lightfoot’s compelling writing, we’re thrilled to bring Marvel’s The Punisher to Netflix.”

Adding up the excitement of the “Punisher” TV series, Cindy Holland (Netflix Vice President of Original Content) said that their global audience got hooked up by the performance of Bernthal as Frank Castle.

Holland added that the production of the “Punisher” TV series is looking forward to the collaboration of Jon Bernthal and Steve Lightfoot.

Screen Rant got the views of Lightfoot itself on how to present Frank Castle as a television series character. “For me, the complexity and unpredictability of Frank Castle make him an incredibly compelling character and I couldn’t be more excited to dive into his world. After watching Jon’s performance in ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ I could not be more excited to be working with him to further develop and progress the story of this anti-hero in a show of his own,” Lightfoot said.

According to Entertainment Weekly, between the collaboration of Netflix and Marvel Television, Marvel’s “The Punisher “marks as the sixth. Other collaborations include the upcoming Luke Cage (Mike Colter and Ogie Banks), Iron Fist (Greg Cipes), The Defenders, Jessica Jones (played by the American actress and former model – Krysten Ritter) and the American web series – Daredevil.
