This Friday, Netflix will be releasing its third Marvel TV series, Luke Cage. The much-anticipated show’s first season will be available for streaming to customers registered on Netflix.
While fans await its release, early reviews of Luke Cage have been posted across the internet. Fortunately, the Marvel TV show has received praises from critics.
Detailed reviews revealed that Luke Cage is different. The teaser trailer posted by Netflix portrayed an entertaining and hilarious plot. However, a recent review suggested that the show was not as “fun” as it was conveyed through teasers.
According to Vox, [Minor Spoiler!] Luke Cage was portrayed “grim and serious” in the first four episodes of the series. Furthermore, the review suggested that fans might not be interested in the show if Netflix releases its episodes “week to week.”
While it was suggested that the show is grimmer than fans expected, it looks like Mike Colter’s portrayal of Luke Cage was able to appeal to critics. Fans can read about it more here.
A review on the Hollywood Reporter also said that the show might not add to the list of “great superhero series, but its searingly relevant and entertaining.” However, based on the fan following Luke Cage has received since his appearance in Jessica Jones, the show might receive better response from fans.
While Luke Cage will definitely keep the Marvel fans occupied, binge-watchers are also expecting Netflix’s Jessica Jones season 2 and Daredevil season 3. However, the studio has not revealed their exact release dates yet.
Netflix is also in the process of producing The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal. The fictional character played a supporting role in Daredevil.
