The UK tour dates of attorneys Dean Strang and Jerry Buting for A Conversation on Making a Murderer have been announced.
The duo, who were the defense attorneys for Steven Avery in the case central to the widely acclaimed and popular docuseries Making a Murderer, will appear live to discuss the case and talk to the fans.
Avery, accused of killing the 25-year-old photographer Teresa Halbach, had previously spent 18 years in prison on a sexual assault charge. In 2003, DNA evidence had proved that he was not involved in the crime; and was thereby exonerated. However, in 2005, he was arrested for Halbach’s murder. His nephew, Brendan Dassey, was also arrested for assisting his uncle in the crime. Avery is currently serving time in prison.
Buting said in a recent interview with Reason TV that he believes Avery is innocent. The legal briefs pertaining to Avery’s appeal are due to be filed by his current lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, on August 29 this year.
The discussion conducted by Strang and Buting will primarily focus on the involvement of Avery and Dassey in the 2005 killing of Halbach and the implications the case could have on the justice system. The duo will also take questions from the audience.
According to Herald Scotland, Strang and Buting will appear at The O2 Academy in Glasgow on Monday, October 24.
