“Making a Murderer” Season 2 has received the green light from Netflix. The docu-series has gained widespread popularity for the insight it has given to the criminal justice system and those who go through it.


The series has received six Emmy nominations last week including Outstanding Documentary or Non-Fiction series. Executive Producers/Directors Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos also received nominations for Outstanding Director for a Non-Fiction.

The duo will still be helming this latest installment of the series. The two said that they are extremely grateful to the response to, and support of the series.

According to Deadline, “Making a Murderer” Season 2 will continue to document the plight of Steven Avery and his co-defendant Brendan Dassey.

The new season will follow their respective investigative and legal teams as they fight to overturn their convictions and while the State persists to uphold its ruling.

The season will also provide an in-depth look at the post-conviction process. Viewers will also witness the emotional toll it takes on the families of the parties involve as they try to cope with the ruling.

Variety reported that the new installment will also give exclusive access to Steven Avery’s new lawyer Kathleen Zellner. Will the new team secure a new court ruling in both Dassey and Avery’s conviction? This is in addition to access to Dassey’s legal team as well as the families of the convicted and those close to the case.

Netflix VP of Original Documentary Programming Lisa Nishimura stated that the show has captivated the world. This was in part to Ricciardi’s and Demos’ incredible vision, commitment, and keen eye she added.

She also stated that they are thrilled to be continuing their longstanding relationship with the makers. They also look forward to giving their global viewers updates regarding the Steven Avery case.

There are currently no details regarding how many episodes there are in the upcoming season. There is also no announcement regarding the exact premiere date of Making a Murderer Season 2.
