Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular TV Special for this year is anticipated to set the entertainment bar higher, as it will feature an impressive line-up of renowned musical and Hollywood stars.
NBC’s 8PM broadcast for the highly-anticipated New York signature holiday show includes Meghan Trainor and Kenny Chesney, and will highlight a new arrangement of “America the Beautiful” performed by the United States Air Force Band and the “Dreamgirls” star Jennifer Holliday.
On the other hand, PBS’ “A Capitol Fourth” will provide a front-row view of the festivities at the United States Capitol that will be participated in by popular artists such as Smokey Robinson and Christopher Jackson of “Hamilton” on Broadway, according to the New York Times.
For its part, CBS’ the “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular” acts include Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, while the Boston Pops Orchestra will be playing arrangements of its various hits under the baton of Keith Lockhart, as part of the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular TV Special.
In the meantime, organizers of the annual fireworks event revealed that they will be utilizing specialized technology that will integrate the use of smartphones into the fireworks display making the festivities highly interactive.
For the first time, revelers will be able to actually synch their mobile phones with the fireworks and witness an explosion of radiant colors that will light up the screens of their handsets.
According to Fox News, the fireworks display will feature more than 56,000 effects that will be set off over the East River to commemorate Macy’s 40th anniversary.
Macy’s tapped Makelight to produce the app that will be used for Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show and be viewed on the Spectacular TV Special
Makelight CEO Joanna Alpe told explained that the free app synchronizes the phones by playing a specially designed lightshow that matches the color, tempo and dynamic explosions of the fireworks.
The app will enhance peoples’ enjoyment of the fireworks spectacular, whether they’ll be watching the display live in New York City or on TV at home.
“We love the thought that people can feel like they are holding sparks of the fireworks in the sky – by coming together, contributing their pixels and being immersed in the creative display all around them,” Alpe explained, via email.
“This is the perfect event to debut the new feature with,” she added, a development which is expected to generate more excitement for Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular TV Special.
