A few hours ago, we reported about how Microsoft has released Windows 10 update for Lumia 535 in Egypt and Jordan. As there is no official announcement about the update yet, everyone is still wondering if Microsoft is testing the update or is secretly releasing it. The news was still fresh when news about another Lumia phone, Lumia 640 XL receiving the OS update has started coming in.
That other Lumia device is none other than the Lumia 640 XL, one of the smartphones that had made it to the Microsoft’s Windows 10 update list. But just like Lumia 535, Lumia 640 XL is receiving Windows 10 update only in Egypt and Jordan. Why are only these two Middle East countries receiving the update? Everyone is clueless. We will get an answer to this only when Microsoft accepts and speaks about the Windows 10 mobile upgrade.
According to Softpedia, the source of information is Winphone.ir. The publication has also quoted the source which confirms Windows 10 update. Here is what it reads, “Windows 10 is here! Get hundreds of improved features, new Office apps that work seamlessly across your Windows 10 devices, and more. For details about how the update will impact your experience, please read windows.com/mobilespecs. Significant download required.”
Microsoft has been promising Windows 10 update for quite some time now but has repeatedly failed to do so. The next expected release of the Windows 10 update was February 2016. So, the news of chosen Lumia devices getting the update cannot be denied. But why are Egypt and Jordan the only places and why is Microsoft mum about it is something to ponder over. The chances are high that Microsoft is testing the Windows 10 update on select devices and at places where, if by chance anything goes wrong, there won’t be many people complaining about it. It will definitely be embarrassing to release an update after so many postponements and then have to pull it back due to bugs.
