Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets square off in a rematch of Friday’s preseason game at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California, on Sunday evening.
It will be the Lakers’ third preseason game, with five more games remaining until the start of the regular season on Oct. 26 against the Houston Rockets.
New coach Luke Walton has said that the team will try out every player in the 20-man roster before finalizing on the 15-man roster ahead of the new season.
The likes of Zach Auguste, Julian Jacobs, Thomas Robinson, Metta World Peace, Travis Wear and Chinese star Yi Jianlian are fighting for the final few roster spots.
Walton has also been trying out various lineups before finalizing on the rotations for the regular season.
Los Angeles Lakers: Luol Deng out
Veteran forward Luol Deng, who sat out of Friday’s game with a bruised knee, will continue doing so on Sunday.
Walton started World Peace and Nick Young in the first and second halves respectively on Friday and could start rookie Brandon Ingram on Sunday.
As of this writing, it seems like only Timofey Mozgov and D’Angelo Russell are surefire starters when the season commences late this month.
Even though many expected Jordan Clarkson to return to the starting 5, Walton seems intent on bringing the third-year off the bench.
In other news, rookie center Ivica Zubac is expected to get significant playing time in tonight’s game.
After Friday’s game, Walton said that his coaching staff had pre-scheduled minutes for every player on the roster.
