The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a decent start this season, but most analysts are convinced that they are still far from being a serious contender in the Eastern Conference.
This early, the Lakers are becoming constant subject of trade rumors, including fan-made speculations over the past several days. One particular trade scenario suggested that the Lakers will work on a three-team deal with the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Los Angeles Lakers Moving Luol Deng To Get Michael Beasley?
According to a trade scenario posted on NBA Trade Rumors website, the Lakers could ship out Deng along with a second-round pick, which will both go to the Bucks. The Lakers will get Michael Beasley, while the Toronto Raptors will receive John Henson. Patrick Patterson and Jared Sullinger will originally go to the Lakers but will be waived.
Should the teams pull the trigger on this deal? Milwaukee will get a proven veteran while giving up Henson, who is allegedly on the trading block. The Raptors will get a defensive-minded center, who could start for the team.
As for the Lakers, they will get a player who could score in bunches if given enough opportunities. Moving Deng will also free up playing time for rookie Brandon Ingram. But is it time to move the veteran forward?
Deng has been struggling this season, averaging just 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in 23.9 minutes per game. However, the Lakers still need a player like Deng more than they need Beasley. The 31-year-old could be the glue guy to their young roster, featuring Ingram, D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle.
Lakers rookie head coach Luke Walton still has high hopes for Deng, Los Angeles Daily News reported. Walton wants Deng to keep shooting, praising his work ethic on and off the court.
“He’s a professional, in the gym and working every day before practice and staying afterwards getting treatment,” Walton said of Deng. “I’m not concerned with him starting to knock down his shot again.”
