‘The Life Of Pablo’ By Kanye West Tops Billboard 200
Kanye West is riding high right now with the success of his seventh album “The Life of Pablo.” The album peaked at the Billboard charts, and critics claimed this must be because of its unique release.Advertisement
Kanye West’s success mostly came from streaming. It has been said that the album’s unorthodox release was the cause of its sales. As stated by Billboard, Nielsen Music claimed that as of the week ending April 7, West’s “The Life of Pablo” album already earned 94,000 equivalent album units. The 28,000 were in pure album sales, while the rest came from streaming equivalent albums.
Kanye might find this news astonishing, considering the album was only released on Tidal. “My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale… You can only get it on Tidal,” West said on its release. The latest ranking of the Billboard 200 chart will be published in full on Billboard’s official websites on Tuesday, April 12.
According to Reuters, the success of the recording artist in the Billboard 200 chart followed “Anti,” album of singer and songwriter Rihanna. The album of the R&B singer, unleashed on January 28, 2016, earned 17,000 physical album sales and went to the top of the Billboard 200 charts in March 2016.
The “Work” singer also released her “Anti” album first on Tidal on February before making the album up up for grabs on other streaming platforms.
