Snowboarder Shaun White was sued by Lena Zawaideh, a drummer in his band ‘Bad Things,’ in May over allegations of sexually assaulting her. On Friday, her lawyers filed a new complaint giving the details on the nature of assault that Zawaideh had to allegedly go through during the years she was associated with the band.
White and Zawaideh formed the band in 2008, but following the 2014 tour, Zawaideh was sacked from the band. She claimed that there was no payment for some of her work. The drummer is suing White for sexual harassment, wage non-payment, wrongful termination and violations of other labour code.
Zawaideh has claimed in the new court documents that during her long 7 years in the band, she was exposed to the “darker, misogynistic personality” of White, the TMZ reported. She alleged that White sent her sexually explicit images and forced her to watch sexually disturbing videos.
She revealed that one of the videos that White made her watch showed a couple killing a bear and then having sex on top of it. She added that White even tried to kiss her at a Halloween Party in 2010, but she refused.
According to the court documents, which were filed by attorney Lawrance Bohm, Shaun White also forced Zawaideh to cut her hair and wear provocative clothes during performances, the Hollywood Life reported.
“I am pursuing this case because women should not have to tolerate harassment at work. Shaun White should not be allowed to do whatever he wants just because he is famous. Although I am embarrassed to have been treated this way, I cannot sit by and watch him do this to other women,” Lena said in a statement.
White has, however, admitted to sending the sexually explicit messages to the Zawaideh, but said the sexual harassment allegations brought against him are bogus.
“Many years ago, I exchanged texts with a friend who is now using them to craft a bogus lawsuit,” TMZ quoted him as saying. “There is absolutely no coincidence to the timing of her claims, and we will defend them vigorously in court.”
