Lakers Training Camp: Full 20-Man Roster, Schedule, Preseason
The Los Angeles Lakers have signed veterans Thomas Robinson and Metta World Peace to non-guaranteed contracts ahead of their training camp, according to league sources.Advertisement
A team can take a maximum of 20 players into training camp. The Lakers are now filled to capacity.
Shams Charania of The Vertical reported on Wednesday that the Lakers signed free-agent forward Thomas Robinson to a one-year deal.
The terms of the contract weren’t revealed but it can now be confirmed that Robinson’s contract is just a training camp contract that could earn him a spot on the preseason roster but not the regular season team.
The report added that the 25-year-old former Kansas standout has been visiting the Lakers’ practice facility on a daily basis and plans to sign a contract on Thursday.
Robinson, a former No.5 overall pick, has been bounced around from team to team since being drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2012-13.
Last season, he averaged 4.3 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Brooklyn Nets but saw a major upturn in production towards the end of the season, averaging 15.3 points and 13.0 rebounds in his final six games.
Since the Lakers have only 14 guaranteed contracts (with Yi Jianlian on a partial guarantee), there is still room for either Robinson, Julian Jacobs, Zach Auguste, World Peace or Travis Wear to make to the final 15-man roster.
Meanwhile, 36-year-old Metta World Peace also reached an agreement on Wednesday.
Here is the complete 20-man roster that the Lakers are taking into training camp:
