What's This?

Free agent forward LaMarcus Aldridge is going to meet the Los Angeles Lakers quite surprisingly for the second time on Thursday afternoon. Aldridge’s free agency started a couple of days ago with a face-to-face meet involving Lakers management. The star free agent came out unimpressed of the presentation, as it focused more on branding and marketing opportunities. Later, there were rumors that Aldridge was inclined towards San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns.

The second meeting will only include Lakers’ manager Mitch Kupchak and coach Byron Scott with Aldridge and his representatives, according to a person with knowledge of the meeting. Aldridge cancelled his scheduled meeting with the New York Knicks on Thursday afternoon to discuss a future deal with the Lakers. One source briefed of this second meeting, “They want to see if they can get it right,” according to Yahoo Sports.

Aldridge will be quoted by one of the most influential personalities in the history of NBA, Miami Heat’s president Pat Riley, during his next meeting with Heats. There’s another rumor aired by the agent of Portland point-guard Damian Lillard, that the point-guard will fly to Los Angeles to convince his former teammate to stay back. The relationship with the two players has been the prime reason for Aldridge’s opting out of Portland’s contract. Lillard in the meantime has extended his contract for five years with Portland for $125 million.
