“The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” actress Kristen Bell pointed out that what her husband, Dax Shepard, shared was more than just being in a moment.Advertisement
“It wasn’t a moment he revealed,” the 35-year-old winner of the Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television said during an interview with Us at the Annenberg Space for Photography’s Refugee event in L.A. on Thursday.
“It’s a lifestyle he lives, where he’s honest and brave,” she further narrated. “The entirety of the radio show, he was relating to the host who had a similar revelation, and they were communicating.” Dax Shepard’s wife also added that “he has dealt with it many, many years ago.”
It can be recalled that the 41-year-old former star of the NBC comedy-drama series “Parenthood” recalled during an interview with Sirius XM’s “The Jason Ellis Show” last week why it took him 12 years to inform anyone about a molestation he experienced as a seven-year-old child, Daily Mail Online reported.
Kristen Bell’s husband likewise shared the possibility of the experience having contributed to his addiction issues as an adult.
“It was minimal [but] it took me 12 years to tell anyone,” the “Punk’d” actor continued to say about his experience in the hands of an 18-year-old neighbor.” And then all that time, I was like, a) ‘It’s my fault,’ as generic as that is … ‘and I’m gay, I must have manifested this because I’m secretly gay.’”
“I had all these insane thoughts for 11 years or 12 years,” disclosed the actor, who admitted about his past addiction which reportedly included “drinking, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, diet pills [and] pain pills.”
According to him, this particular issue could be linked to the abuse especially that based on her mother’s account, “If you’ve been molested, you only have a 20 per cent chance of not being an addict.”
Upon hearing it from his mom, a court-appointed advocate for Foster children, it became an eye-opener for Dax Shepard.
