Metro Provides Free Service As East Coast Starts To Dig Out Of The Blizzard
Following a historic blizzard that struck the east coast over the weekend, burying it in several feet of snow, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has announced that it is looking to restore some of its service underground by Monday. According to the Metro, the Metrorail system will provide a “limited underground service” beginning 7 AM Monday on the Red Orange and Green lines. These lines will be following the said routes:
-Orange Line: Ballston to Eastern Market only
-Red Line: Medical Center to Union Station only
-Green Line: Fort Totten to Anacostia only
Trains will run every 20 to 25 minutes and the Metrorail will be open until midnight. Meanwhile, the Metro also says that it will not be charging for the Metrorail on Monday.
At the same time, the metrobus will also be providing some “Lifeline Service” operating on Snow Emergency Routes from 12 P.M. to 5 P.M. on Monday, although service will be for a limited number of routes only. routes will be as follows:
-District of Columbia: 32, 33, 36, 53, 70, 90, A6, A8, S4, U8, V4, X2
-Maryland: C4, D12, K6, P12, Q2, Y2, Z8
-Virginia: 16A, 16E, 28A
Fares will also not be charged.
ISIS Issues Another Threat To The British Using Paris Attackers
A video posted on ISIS’ official Telegram channel seem to show last statements made by Paris attackers before they unleashed a series of shootings and bombings in the French Capital on November 13 that killed 130 people. They made it clear that the British remains a target of the Islamic State.
On the video, a footage of British Prime Minister David Cameron was shown as he expressed solidarity with France, following the Paris attacks. A slogan then appears on the screen with the words: “Whoever stands in the ranks of kafir (infidels) will be a target for our swords.”
According to a report from Reuters, the Paris attackers consisted of three French nationals, four Belgians and two Iraqis.
Magnitude 7.1 Earthquake Strikes Alaska
The southwest of Anchorage, Alaska was struck with a magnitude 7.1 earthquake Sunday. AccuWeather reports that the epicenter of the earthquake was found 52 miles east of Old Iliamna, Alaska. Meanwhile, the US Geogological Survey reports that the recent earthquake has focal depths between 70 and 300 km, therefore classifying it as an intermediate-depth earthquake. As a result of the quake, numerous power outages were reported.
Rapper Chingy Withdraws Donald Trump Support
Rapper Chingy had initially said on his Twitter page Friday that he would vote for Donald Trump. Just a day later though, the St. Louis rapper decided to withdraw his support for the GOP frontrunner. And just to make it clear to everyone, he even posted a video explicitly entitled, “I DO NOT support Donald Trump.” It is also known as the Chingy public apology.
Batman v Superman Poster Out
Warner Bros. Pictures has recently come out with the new “Batman v Superman” poster, captioning it “Who Will Win?” The film is directed by Zack Snyder and will star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. At the same time, the film also stars Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Laurence Fishburne. Jason Momoa will also be making an appearance in the movie as Aquaman.
