Obama Set To Visit Controversial U.S. Mosque
On February 3, President Barack Obama is set to visit a U.S. mosque that has been reported to have links with Islamic extremism and terrorists.
President Obama is looking to pay the Islamic Society of Baltimore (ISB) a visit. The society’s president told Al Jazeera, “We at the ISB are honoured to welcome President Obama at our centre. ISB is among largest organisations in the nation, and thousands of families are affiliated with this Islamic Centre.” A White House aide said that during this visit, President Obama shall be holding a roundtable with various community members as he reemphasizes the need to stay “true to our core values” by “speaking out against bigotry, rejecting indifference, and protecting our nation’s tradition of religious freedom.” There is currently an increasing number of hate crimes perpetuated against the Muslim in the U.S.
Meanwhile, a report from The Clarion Project finds that the ISB is actually affiliated with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a group that federal prosecutors have named as an unindicted co-conspirator during the terrorism-financing trail of the Holy Land Foundation in 2007. There was also further evidence found to link ISNA to Hamas in 2009.
