Team USA swimmers were undoubtedly the star attraction of Day 4 of the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Katie Ledecky bagged the first place in the women’s 200 meters freestyle event, earning a well-deserved gold medal for her country. Swimming sensation Michael Phelps also scored two gold medals, including one he achieved after winning his signature event – the 200 meter butterfly – and outracing South African Chad Le Clos.
Le Clos had won the same event in the 2012 London Olympics, beating Phelps by the slightest of margins.
Team USA basketball team cheers for Michael Phelps
Amid the spectators watching Phelps create history were members of the Team USA basketball team.
Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kyle Lowry were present in the Olympic Aquatic Center stands to support and cheer their country’s swimmers, as reported by PaperMag.com.

“It is awesome to see those getting behind the country and the whole Olympic team,” tennis player Denis Kudla said. “They are loud and proud to support their teammates. Because for these couple of weeks we all have hundreds of teammates, not just a few like on a ball team.”
“It is so cool that they came down to support us”
Jordan cheered an emphatic “Awesome, awesome,” as Phelps finished first in the butterfly event. Jordan met up with Phelps after the latter was presented with his medal and congratulated him.
“We have got to meet the basketball guys, and it is so cool that they came down to support us,” swimmer Caeleb Dressel said, as reported by USA Today. “To have them backing us up is a treat. I hope I get to do the same for them later on after the competition.”
