On Sunday, American singer, songwriter, and rapper Kesha made an explosive post on her Instagram account. The 29-year-old singer asserted that if she will deny she was sexually abused, Kesha’s record deal will no longer be under control of former mentor Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald.
The “Tik Tok” singer wrote along with a photo of herself, “So. I got offered my freedom IF I were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped.” Kesha continued, “THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors.
“I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.”
American guitarist and record producer Dr. Luke denied the allegations and is now instituting legal proceedings against the singer for breach of contract and defamation. Kesha still owes the record producer six more studio albums.
Christine Sepera, Dr. Luke’s legal representative, denied such malicious offers. Sepera said in a statement, “Ms. Kesha Rose Sebert, who in sworn videotaped testimony from 2011 stated that she had never been sexually abused or drugged by the record producer, is neither a victim nor the appropriate person to be held up as an example in this important matter.”
In February, a New York Supreme Court judge refused to grant the request of the singer for a preliminary injunction that would allow her to work on her music beyond the limits of her contracts with Luke and Sony Music.
