Kesha wowed the audience of the Human Society’s gala in Los Angeles after she performed an emotional cover of Lady Gaga’s “Till It Happens To You.”Advertisement
The 29-year-old singer, who nailed the performance alongside co-writer of the song Diane Warren on piano, was not able to contain her emotions on the song’s opening line, “Tell me it gets better.”
Before her cover for “Till It Happens To You,” Kesha told the audience, “I want to dedicate this song to every man, woman, child and animal that has ever been abused.”
It can be recalled that the “Die Young” singer was in a legal battle against former producer Dr. Luke. Reports said that she underwent sexual and verbal violence when she was working with him, MTV said.
Romper said that that Dr. Luke has denied the singer’s allegations both in court and even in his social media accounts. Last month, the Supreme Court junked Kesha’s claims, leading to Dr. Luke’s free from any criminal charges.
The case has led other celebrities to voice out their support for Kesha including Lady Gaga, Adele, Ann Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon, Lena Dunham, and more.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga took to social media to voice out her support for Kesha’s plight, as well as of the girls who are experiencing the same traumatic circumstances.
“I could feel your pain,” the pop star wrote, along with Kesha’s “Till It Happens To You” cover. “These boys won’t be in charge forever. The wisdom of women is rising. Let’s get louder.”
Lady Gaga previously performed “Till It Happens To You” at the Academy Awards, along with many sexual violence survivors on stage.
