Kenneth Faried is the odd man out for the Denver Nuggets so it will be interesting if the “Manimal” can find a new home soon. Faried is expected to be eased out of the rotation with the rise of international stars, Jusuf Nurkic and Nikola Jokic.
The curious thing about Nurkic and Jokic is that they do their damage on opposite ends which is what Faried technically does as one.
However, the two international cagers cost cheaper than Faried so unloading a nearly $12 million pay (per Basketball-reference.com) could be put to good use on other assets.
The duo of Nurki and Jokic are almost one-third of what Faried is owed which means that almost $9 million could end up in dead money.
Which teams could show interest on Kenneth Faried?
The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Atlanta Hawks previously showed interest on Faried but nothing materialized, Fansided reported. With their rosters set, the 26-year-old may be fit to other teams who can afford him.
The Los Angeles Lakers too could be possible as the team looks to toughen up their defense and rebounding. The Lakers do lack a bit in that department with most of their young core likely to get bullied inside.
With Faried, the Lakers could use a veteran up front to help out Luol Deng and Julius Randle. The veteran big man may not have a shot from the outside though his work from the inside could matter more.
The Lakers are filled with offensive-minded players like Jordan Clarkson, D’Angelo Russell, and rookie Brandon Ingram. With Faried focusing on the boards and protecting the rim, all that remains is who the Lakers would give up.
