Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx remained mum on their alleged relationship for three years amid numerous speculations. However, Holmes and Foxx seem to have finally decided to come out in the open about it by announcing their engagement in November and even Tom Cruise, reportedly, approved of the union.
Holmes was bound by the terms of the divorce contract she has with Cruise to not date someone until 2017, which is reportedly the main reason behind keeping the affair a secret. According to the contract, Katie Holmes was prohibited from embarrassing Cruise in a few ways. However, she could still date but had to make sure that it doesn’t come out in the public.
Holmes was also barred from allowing her boyfriend to come near Holmes and Cruise’s daughter Suri. Since Holmes badly wanted the divorce, she accepted the terms and received $5 million for herself and $4.8 million in child support.
A recent report by the Hollywood Life noted that Cruise has accepted the relationship and decided not to stand in the couple’s way. A source told the OK! magazine that Foxx was tired of the legally mandated delay and called up Cruise to talk things out regarding the reservations in the contract.
“Jamie called Tom and told him that he loved Katie, and that he thought that being in a stable family would be best for Suri too,” the source said adding that following the man to man talk Cruise agreed to stand aside.
“Tom, despite initial reservations, agreed not to stand in the couple’s way,” the insider said. “After the man-to-man conversation, even Tom could see how serious Jamie and Katie are.”
The source also confirmed that Foxx suggested that it would be the best for Suri if he and Holmes are in a more stable relationship.
Now that Cruise is in favour of the wedding, Holmes and Foxx are planning to get married in November, the Hall of Fame Magazine reported. However, it is reportedly going to be a very private affair.
