Are Kate Middleton and Prince William in danger and is Queen Elizabeth’s security system flawed? A man was caught by armed policemen while scaling Buckingham Palace on Friday.
Daniel Sheehan, a man in his early 20’s, was arrested while scaling the south gate of the Buckingham Palace in London. “I will get a gun!” he shouted.
The deranged man was arrested by police officers at 1:45 pm on Friday, Radar Online reports.
After his arrest, Sheehan warned the officers. “I will get a gun, I will use it at the palace to defend myself. I have not got one yet but I will get one,” said the unarmed man.
Members of the British royal family were not there at the palace when the incident took place. The 90-year-old queen was busy attending an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle earlier in the day, Telegraph reports.
Besides, Kate Middleton and Prince William were also not in Buckingham Palace during the security breach. The case was heard at a London court on Monday. The incident was recounted at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court, after which the man was asked his name, but he shook his head when asked to confirm his details.
Prosecutor Kevin Christie revealed that Sheehan was discharged from Langley Green Hospital in Crawley, England, on Thursday, Oct 6. Christie added that the incident happened the very next day.
Langley Green Hospital is a state-of-the-art hospital specializing in treating people with acute mental health problems. Meanwhile, Daniel Sheehan has been ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation by judge John Zani.
He will remain in custody until Oct.13. Sheehan appeared in court wearing gray sweatpants, a T-shirt and blonde hair. He had no fixed address, and faces two charges of trespassing.
The security breach is the latest in a string of attempts to break into the queen’s official residence in London. In August, a drunken man was arrested when he tried to break into the palace. In May, a murder convict was arrested very close to Buckingham Palace, The Sun reports.
Security at Buckingham Palace and Westminster has been tightened following the incident. Besides, the historic buildings are on high alert since the recent terror attacks around Europe. Hope Kate Middleton and Prince William, the future king and queen of Britain are safe after the security breach.
