Hairnet sales. Kate Middleton caused hairnet sales to spike up. Wearing one is no longer a dying trend.

The 34-year-old royal was seen wearing a hairnet during the Somme Centenary commemoration in France on Thursday. Royal fans worldwide want to replicate her style of wearing the hair accessory, reviving the trend that has caused rise in its demand.

This has given rise to “The Kate Effect.” Kate Middleton paired her look with a gray, black and white patterned sold-out Missoni coat.

She was seen in the designer coat for the first time that she paired with a black dress. The Duchess of Cambridge channeled Jackie O in the black pillbox hat and oversize pearl earrings, oozing a very Sixties vibe.

Kate’s faux pearl earrings were from Balenciaga. She wore the exactly same pair of earrings to Trooping the Color parade on June 11. She teamed up her ensemble with black suede high heels and matching suede clutch bag.

The mother-of-two wore her long brunette locks in a chic up ‘do’ using a hairnet to keep it in place, Hello reports. But her mane game was on point, most likely inspired from the runway shows of Gucci. The models of the Italian fashion house walked the catwalk wearing fascinators and headpieces with colorful net detail.

This season veils and hairnets made a comeback on the runways. Also, the Autumn/Winter 2016 catwalk of Isabel Marant witnessed models in elaborate net headpieces and long veils during the Paris Fashion Week in March. This apart, Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls and Bella Hadid were spotted backstage at Givenchy’s Paris show donning blue hairnets in June.

“I think Kate is making a true style statement, although very subtle and matched to her hair, her hairnet is on trend when paired with her classic pillbox hat,” said celebrity stylist, Jason Collier. He has worked with celebs like Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller and Eva Longoria.

“With fashion trends at the moment “kitsch”, is making a comeback so it is no surprise that the hairnet has made an appearance,” he said, adding the hairnet is set to bring quirkiness to fashion looks this season, Daily Mail reports. The ‘Kate Effect’ is likely to be a hit with royal fans.

During her royal visit to India and Bhutan with Prince William in April, she wore the season’s hottest hair trend of the braided and twisted ‘do’. The spring hair trend has become a favorite with Kate when she was seen sporting the same style during several occasions in India as well as the U.K.
